A Breathing Exercise to Help Kids and Teens Relax
This video guides your child through a breathing exercise to help their body relax using simple instructions and a sunshine graphic. This long-exhale technique can help children and teens manage stressful situations and big emotions.
Older children can learn to practice this breathing exercise anytime. Teach them to inhale slowly through their nose for 4 counts, hold their breath for 4 counts and exhale slowly through their mouth for 8 counts. This technique helps slow the heart rate, relax the body and give the mind something else to focus on.
