The Connection Journey: Healing the Whole Athlete
Many athletes fear that they may someday feel the tear of an ACL, but an ACL tear doesn’t have to be career-ending. With the right treatment, care team and mindset, athletes can heal and safely return to their sport.
In this series of The Connection Journey, you can hear how two teen athletes tore their ACLs. Carolyn is beyond the recovery stage and pursuing her soccer dreams, but Erin is just starting ACL injury treatment.
Carolyn remembers what it was like when she tore her ACL during a soccer tournament. Erin recently tore her ACL during soccer practice and is quickly approaching her ACL surgery; she and her mom have many questions about what to expect along the way.
Listen in as Caroyln and her parents share their experience with ACL injury, surgery and recovery. They’re happy to share what they’ve learned with Erin and her mother to help them through the challenging process.
This video is part of Children’s Hospital Colorado’s series called The Connection Journey, where newly diagnosed families lean on people who faced similar difficult situations. This unique program connects families who are experienced in managing certain medical conditions for their child with families who are new to the challenge.
