Congenital Heart Disease: What to Expect During Labor & Delivery at the Colorado Fetal Care Center

The Colorado Fetal Care Center (CFCC) provides comprehensive care for babies with congenital heart disease and their mothers before, during and after birth.
On the day of your induction or cesarean section (C-section), you will be admitted to our Labor and Delivery (L&D) Unit. You can bring at least one support person with you. Our team will go over the details of your labor and birth plan with you.
After delivery, our team takes your baby to a procedure room, where they receive their initial care. A doctor will update you on how your baby is doing at each step, and you will get a chance to see and touch your baby after this care is complete. Once your baby is doing well, they will go to the cardiac intensive care unit (CICU), where they receive 24/7 care from dedicated doctors and nurses.
