Meet Our Doc: James Jaggers, MD, Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeon
“Sometimes you think, ‘Was I born to do this?’” James Jaggers, MD, asks himself. “I would say I probably was.”
Becoming a pediatric heart surgeon wasn’t just a career choice for Dr. Jaggers — it was a calling. Growing up in Western Nebraska, Dr. Jaggers helped his father, who was a veterinarian, perform surgery on cattle and deliver calves. He was drawn to medicine at a very young age. Now, he’s performing some of the most complex pediatric heart surgeries in the country.
As part of the Children’s Hospital Colorado Heart Institute, Dr. Jaggers works alongside a specialized, full-spectrum care team — from doctors and nurses to respiratory therapists and social workers. Together, they are bound by a shared dedication to caring for kids with congenital heart disease.
