For pediatric surgeon Thomas Rauth, MD, surgery isn’t just about treating a medical condition — it’s about changing a young person’s life for the better.
“I really enjoy the operating room. I enjoy being able to address a problem and fix it,” says Dr. Rauth. “What I probably get more professional satisfaction from is watching these kids recover and grow up, leading normal lives.”
A strong connection with the families he meets is a key part of Dr. Rauth’s care. “For some of these families, this might be the scariest office visit they’ve ever had,” he says. “We have to remind ourselves of the anxiety that this family may be feeling — being able to diffuse that is really important.”
Dr. Rauth is proud to work alongside a compassionate team that cares deeply about every patient they encounter. “At a place like Children’s Colorado, the energy and the passion for care delivery and community engagement of the hospital are motivating,” he says. “It’s a pretty incredible place.”
