Early onset scoliosis is scoliosis diagnosed in children before the age of 10 that still have substantial growth of the chest and spine remaining. It can be difficult to distinguish a child with early onset scoliosis from children with no spinal deformity, especially in infants. For children with early onset scoliosis, treatment focuses on both controlling the progression of spinal deformity while also allowing the spine and chest to grow.
