Defiance is a normal part of your child’s development. Defiance doesn’t always mean your child has oppositional defiance disorder. But it’s still hard and stressful for parents to deal with.
In this video, clinical child and adolescent psychologist Jessica Hawks, MD, discusses how to make your child’s defiance less stressful. Dr. Hawks will help you understand defiance and the effects it can have on your family.
Then, she discusses how to use attention, relationship-building, reinforcement, consequences and more to manage your child’s defiance. You will learn many tips that you can use in your everyday interactions with your child to curb their defiance.
