Supporting Your Child’s Mental Health During a Pandemic
We’ve seen some troubling trends related to children’s mental health during the coronavirus pandemic. Depression, anxiety and suicidal ideation are all on the rise and parents haven’t been exempt from increased mental health struggles during this time, either. This makes it hard for families to support each other.
Clinical child and adolescent psychologist Jessica Hawks, MD, has talked with many families about the unique effects of the pandemic on children’s mental health. In this video, she discusses how families can navigate this difficult time.
Dr. Hawks discusses how social isolation has affected children’s mental health during the pandemic, how to identify when your child is struggling with mental health issues, how parents can help their children and how to promote healthy coping in your child.
