A Le Wand Die Cast Vibrator Review You’ll Want To Read

As far as the sex toy market is concerned, there is no shortage of wand vibrators. Fact is, nearly every luxury and affordable sex toy retailer—Lelo, Satisfyer, We-Vibe, and Dame, for example—has at least one microphone-shaped external massager. For good reason: Their larger size allows them to hold a bigger motor, which translates to more intense vibrators, and in most cases more intense orgasms.

Saturated as the wand vibrator market may be, I’m always excited when I learn that a well-regarded sex toy company, like Le Wand, is putting out a new one. As far as I’m concerned, more is better when it comes to pleasure products. But to be clear: Le Wand’s latest wand offering isn’t a case of same ‘ol, same ‘ol. Rather, the Le Wand Die-Cast Plug-In ($210) introduces new, never-before-seen-in-a-vibrator features, such as a die-cast wrapping and 30 vibration options.

The term “Die Cast” means the handle is cast in a molten metal, explains Alicia Sinclair, a certified sex educator and the CEO of Le Wand. “This material gives the toy a more robust and weightier feel,” she explains, which helps facilitate greater pressure, and therefore pleasure. Meanwhile, the plug gives the wand access to non-stop power, which enables users to play and play and play.

First impressions of the Le Wand Die-Cast Plug-In Vibrating Massager

As a sex educator, pleasure-seeker, and Person On The Internet™, I am very familiar with Le Wand, which is Le Wand’s namesake product. So, I knew to expect a toy that looked like a microphone and was closer in size to a hairdryer. Still, while I was prepared for how big the product would be, I could not have anticipated just how beautiful it would be in person.

The handle, which makes up the majority of the foot-long toy, is made from aluminum alloy. Products made from this non-porous (AKA body-safe) material, all feature a sleek shine that is indisputably stunning. Indeed, all four of the colors (rose gold, silver, black, and ombre) glisten like a lubed up phallus. However, as an out bisexual who loves to celebrate my proclivities with subtle colorways, I opted for the pink, purple, and blue ombre one.

Because I specifically ordered the plug-in version of the toy, rather than the rechargeable option, I knew the toy would have cord coming out its tail. What I wasn’t expecting however, was just how long the cord would be—8 feet. Both of the plugs directly next to my bed are utilized by mood (uh, Holiday) lighting, so I was thrilled that the extra length would allow me to get it on with my new toy, without unplugging my festive twinkle lights.

The other feature that surprised me was the toy’s weight. As soon as I took it out of the box, I immediately put it to my mouth like a microphone and started: “It’s cuffing season, and all the girls be needing a big boy.” Far more than an ode to SZA, my tunes were honoring just how darn heavy the product is weighing in at 20 ounces. Having tried weighty sex toys in the past—including the Le Wand Point and stainless steel nJoy Pure Plug—I was turned on by this prospect, as I knew the mass could enable the toy to provide even more feel-good pressure.

Giving the Le Wand Die-Cast a try alone and with my partner

Masturbating functions as both my nightly melatonin and first cup of coffee. Depending on the time of day, rubbing one out either wakes me up faster than a fire alarm or puts me to sleep quicker than a lax bro recounting his glory days on a lacrosse field. While I’m all for a slow build up some day, most of the time I want it lickety-split. The first evening I reached for my wand, I was hoping it would deliver just that—and it did. Heck, I didn’t even take my pants off.

The vibrations were so powerful I couldn’t just feel them through the layers, but I was able to cum from the indirect contact. When I told queer sex educator Cassandra Corrado about my experience with this product, she wasn’t surprised. “Sex toys can provide vibrations that are either buzzy or rumbly,” she explains. Toys with rumbly vibrations, like the Le Wand Die Cast can penetrate more deeply, she explains, which enables them to reach through multiple layers of clothing, as well as deep into the body.

The next few times I used the toy were with my long-distance boo, who was visiting and excited to experience the wand’s power for themselves after I’d shared just how little time and contact with it I required. Once, they held the wand relentlessly against my clitoris while sliding in and out of me, producing wave after wave of world-making pleasure. Multiple orgasms are a beautiful thing, indeed.

Another time, we pressed the wand between our genitals like a Le Wand and loin sandwich. Feeling the heat of their parts so close to mine, in itself was a treat. But the sensation and look of both of our bodies twitching toward the bulbous, buzzing head was next-level. Oh, and in case you’re wondering, the wire didn’t get in the way of this scissor-like position at all.

A third time, I simply laid beside them as they pressed the wand against their genitals at various angles. “One of the great things about wand vibrators is that they can be used on a wide variety of body parts,” says Corrado, making them accessible for people with all different genital shapes and preferences.

Next time my partner and I are face-to-face, we’re going to give Corrado’s recommendation of putting the wand in a toy mount, then having one of us straddle while performing oral sex on the other. While doggy-style sex isn’t our fave position, if it’s yours, she suggests holding it against your genitals while your partner enters you vaginally or anally from behind.

Choosing the plug-in versus the rechargeable version

The Le Wand Die Cast Vibrator that I tried and am writing about is the plug-in option. However, the vibrator is also available as a plug-free, rechargeable vibrator: The Die Cast Rechargeable ($220).

Ultimately, which variation you get is going to be a matter of personal taste, as there are specific perks to each. The plug-in variation connects the toy the wall. This makes the wand slightly more powerful than the rechargeable version, making it an ideal option for people who know they need a lot of pressure to experience pleasure. Likely, if you masturbate face-down, or enjoy frottage sex, you fall into this category.

Another benefit of a plug-in vibrator is that the charge can never run out. Anyway who has ever had a toy crap-out on them pre-cum, knows just how much of an orgasm-saver (read: win) this is. So long as the vibrator is plugged in the wall, you have access to un-interrupted pleasure. This limitlessness may be particularly enjoyable for marathon masturbators or rompers, people who can’t freely charge their vibes wherever or whenever, and individuals looking to overcome anxiety about how long they take to come.

Further, using a plug-in wand allows pleasure-seekers to tap into the legacy of plug-in vibrators, which was started by Magic Wand (formerly Hitachi) in late 1960 and continues today. Indeed, masturbating with this vibrator style, and therefore joining the decades-long fight for pleasure, can help individuals remember that self-pleasure is a normal and healthy part of human sexuality—for individuals born and raised within the choke-hold of purity culture, this reminder can be useful for replacing stigma with satisfaction.

The main downside of plug-in vibrators, of course, is that you need access to a (working) electrical outlet to use one. This makes the toy inaccessible to (most) glampers, campers, and thru-hikers. In these instances, the rechargeable version would be best. (FTR: The Le Wand Die Cast Plug-In comes with three adaptors, which means the toy can be bought and used in countries outside of the United States).
