Pediatric otolaryngologist Christian Francom, MD, has found his calling in caring for children at Children’s Hospital Colorado. His path to pediatric ENT wasn’t what he originally expected, but it’s where he discovered his true passion.
“I went to residency thinking that I was going to be a head and neck cancer surgeon,” says Dr. Francom. “Then I started working with kids, and the kids were just so much fun. They make you laugh. I just realized I came home happier at the end of the day after working with kids.”
For Dr. Francom, the privilege of walking alongside families from birth through their child’s twenties is both humbling and inspiring. “I’m working on a surgery for cleft lip repair and thinking about that child and the smile that they’ll have in their kindergarten picture, or their first prom date, or even on their wedding day,” he says. “It’s just such a special and humbling experience.”
