Kanika Mathur, MD, is often the first stop along a child’s medical journey when they have a heart condition and she’s already looking toward the finish line. As a pediatric cardiologist, her goal is to help children have a happy, healthy life and enjoy just being a kid.
“The most fulfilling part of our day is to see a child smile and just be a normal kid without having the thought of their medical issues limiting them,” says Dr. Mathur. “I think the heart is an incredible part of us. It may sound a little cheesy, but I love the idea that the heart is also an expression of our deepest emotions. Even though it is a job, it’s also my passion and I feel very fortunate to be able to come here and be part of these children’s lives and their journeys even when it’s very hard for them and their families.”
