Exercises with an Athletic Trainer: Ceiling Punches
In this video, physical therapist Adam Hryniewicz demonstrates how to do ceiling punches. This targets the serratus anterior, an important muscle in the shoulder girdle that connects the arm to the upper body. You can perform this exercise with or without weight.
Begin on your back with your arm extended in the air. Punch your fist up while keeping the elbow extended and your back on the floor, allowing your shoulder to lift off the ground. You can vary the difficulty by increasing repetitions, sets or adding increased weight.
Watch as Adam demonstrates the proper form and technique for this exercise.
