Exercises with an Athletic Trainer: Upper Extremity D2 PNF Flexion and Extension




Children’s Hospital Colorado physical therapist Adam Hryniewicz demonstrates upper extremity D2 Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) exercises. These exercises can help improve strength and stability in the shoulder. The flexion and extension exercises help strengthen deltoids, rotator cuff, shoulder internal rotators, back and pectoral muscles.

To begin you’ll need a resistance band and a stable structure for anchoring. Watch Adam as he guides you through the proper form for these exercises.
