The Connection Journey

A medical diagnosis can catch a family completely by surprise and leave them feeling like they’re all alone – like nobody could understand what they’re going through. But no matter what diagnosis a family faces, at Children’s Hospital Colorado, we’ve helped others through it before.

In this video, which introduces a series called The Connection Journey, newly diagnosed families lean on people who faced similar difficult situations. This unique program connects families who are experienced in managing certain medical conditions for their child with families who are new to the challenge.

As shown in this preview, the veteran families help set expectations, offer advice and provide understanding to those about to go down the same road. From asthma to heart disease, and torn ACL to epilepsy, these conditions are easier to handle when you’re paired with someone who has gone through it and helps you understand what’s next.

In this video, you’ll see that while no one can guarantee outcomes, we can share the power of perspective. Watch snippets of conversations between real parents and patients, talking about what to expect from their diagnosis. Each of these heart-to-heart moments all has something to give: whether it’s hope, a helpful tip or answers to questions no one knew to ask.
