The Lymphatic System is an efficient, intricate, and vital organ system. But when it doesn’t form correctly, it may cause a lymphatic malformation, which causes parts of the body to swell. Because it occurs before birth, it is a congenital, or primary condition, and can take several forms: microcystic, macrocystic, chylothorax, and chylous ascites.
In this animated video, learn how lymphatic malformations form, and how sclerotherapy, surgery, and other treatment options are available at our Vascular Anomalies Center.
