ARCH Program: Celebrating 55 Years of Getting Kids Active Through Adaptive Recreation

The Adaptive Recreation for Childhood Health (ARCH) Program at Children’s Hospital Colorado is more than just an adaptive skiing club – it’s a chance for kids of all abilities to participate in all adaptive activities.

This year, ARCH is celebrating 55 years of opportunity and inclusion. In this video, volunteers, participants and providers share what they enjoy most about the unique program and how pediatric adaptive recreation has made an impact on their lives.

Ri, a past ARCH participant turned volunteer, shares his story of loss and acceptance and how the program grew his love of skiing. Andy and his mom, Courtney, talk about how the ARCH Program has helped Andy feel proud of himself and his accomplishments. Hear kids and our doctors weigh in on how the guidance of the ARCH program leads to greater confidence and courage and helps them meet their goals for their conditions.

The ARCH program is a rare gem that will continue to ensure kids of all abilities can enjoy the activities they love most for 55 more years and beyond.
