As a pediatric pulmonologist and sleep medicine provider, Ben Hughes, MD, finds joy helping children do two essential things – breathe and sleep.
“I was always drawn to pediatrics,” says Dr. Hughes. “Kids are a lot more fun, and I’m really excited every day to go to work and work with such tremendous patients and families.”
In his role as the Regional Medical Director for Western Colorado, Dr. Hughes shares how Children’s Hospital Colorado is making a difference by building a phenomenal clinic to care for conditions like cystic fibrosis, asthma and many sleep conditions.
Working alongside respiratory therapists and nurses, Dr. Hughes shares why he values his teammates and how they work together to provide the best care possible, and why providing more access to care in Western Colorado is so important.
“I am always struck by the amazing teamwork that goes into patient care,” says Dr. Hughes. “The opportunity to deliver world-class care right in Western Colorado is just so critical for our patients and their families. And that gets me really excited.”
