What to Expect From Your Esophageal String Test at Children’s Hospital Colorado
The esophageal string test is a new procedure that makes managing eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) so much easier for kids and their families.
Children with EoE usually need many endoscopies throughout their lifetime to help monitor the inflammation in their small intestine that tells us whether their condition is active or inactive. Developed at Children’s Colorado, the string test is a simple and minimally invasive procedure that can be used instead of an endoscopy in managing pediatric EoE. An endoscopy usually involves eight hours of fasting, general anesthesia, and a four-hour stay at the hospital, and kids with EoE may need one every six to eight weeks. With the string test, there’s no fasting or anesthesia involved, and kids can get back to their daily lives within an hour. Discover the groundbreaking simplicity of the string test and how it could make life easier for you and your child.
