How to Tape Your Child’s Cleft Lip
In preparation for surgery on your child’s cleft lip, your care team may ask you to tape your child’s cleft lip at home. Your baby’s skin and muscles are soft and can be molded slowly and gently to move the parts closer together. This can help make the cleft easier to fix with surgery.
In this video, you will learn how to properly tape your child’s cleft lip, the list of supplies you’ll need and the step-by-step process of how to safely and effectively tape the lip. You’ll also see how to remove the tape and wash the skin, as well as how to monitor your baby’s skin for irritation.
