Jacob Plays Guitar in the NICU for His Newborn Twins

“The moment I played the first note, they would both begin moving and kicking,” Jacob says.

He played the guitar when his partner, Evelyn, was pregnant with their twins, Oliver and Raphael.

When the twins were born early at 30 weeks and 4 days, Jacob brought his guitar to our NICU in Colorado Springs.

“When I play for them, they look comforted — like they recognize that it was what they heard in the womb,” Jacob says.

Jacob’s melodies are also comforting and meditative for him and Evelyn, who both grew up around music. It’s these precious moments that help families in our NICUs bond and create memories for a lifetime.

This month we celebrate the families who grow stronger together, often under trying circumstances, and the compassionate caregivers who create space for these special moments.
