{"id":9563,"date":"2023-12-21T20:27:29","date_gmt":"2023-12-21T13:27:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/loudhdtv.com\/?p=9563"},"modified":"2023-12-21T20:27:29","modified_gmt":"2023-12-21T13:27:29","slug":"dairy-milk-hormones-effects-on-cancer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/loudhdtv.com\/?p=9563","title":{"rendered":"Dairy Milk Hormones\u2019 Effects on Cancer\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>What are the effects of the female sex hormones in cow\u2019s milk on men, women, and children?\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>All foods of animal origin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/26258087\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">contain<\/a> hormones, but most of our dietary exposure to hormones comes from dairy products. By quantity, as you can see below and at 0:16 in my video <a href=\"https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/video\/the-effects-of-hormones-in-dairy-milk-on-cancer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>The Effects of Hormones in Dairy Milk on Cancer<\/strong><\/a>, it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/26258087\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">is<\/a> mostly prolactin, corticosteroids, and progesterone, but there are also a bunch of estrogens, which concentrate even further when other dairy products are made. For instance, hormones are five times more concentrated in cream and cheese, and ten times more in butter.\u00a0<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-99379\" src=\"https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/0-16-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/0-16-1.png 1920w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/0-16-1-960x540.png 960w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/0-16-1-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/0-16-1-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/0-16-1-1536x864.png 1536w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/0-16-1-480x270.png 480w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/0-16-1-1200x675.png 1200w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/0-16-1-720x405.png 720w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/0-16-1-540x304.png 540w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\"\/><br \/>When it comes to steroid hormones in the food supply, about three-quarters of our exposure to ingested female sex steroids <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0308814697001507\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">come<\/a> from dairy, and the rest is split evenly between eggs and meat (including fish). Indeed, eggs contribute about as much as all meat combined, which makes a certain amount of sense since an egg comes straight from a hen\u2019s ovary. Among the various types of meat, you get as much from white meat (fish and poultry) as you do from pork and beef, and this is just from natural hormones\u2014not added hormone injections, like bovine growth hormone. So, it doesn\u2019t matter if the meat is organic. Animals produce hormones because they\u2019re animals, and their hormones understandably end up in animal products.\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>About half of the people surveyed \u201cdid not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/26874425\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">know<\/a> that milk naturally contains hormones,\u201d and many \u201clacked basic knowledge (22% did not know that cows only give milk after calving)\u201d\u2014that is, they didn\u2019t realize what milk is for\u2014feeding baby calves. Researchers suggested we ought to inform the public about dairy production practices. In response, one <em>Journal of Dairy Science<\/em> respondent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/27528567\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a> that telling the public about the industry\u2019s new technologies, like transgenic animals (meaning genetically engineered farm animals), \u201cor contentious husbandry practices\u201d (such as taking away that newly born calf so we can have more of the milk or \u201czero-grazing for dairy cows\u201d\u2014i.e., not letting cows out on grass), \u201cdoes not result in high rates of public approval,\u201d so <em>ixnay on the educationay<\/em>.\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>The public may not know the extent to which they are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/19496976\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">exposed<\/a> to estrogen through the intake of commercial milk produced from pregnant cows, which has potential public health implications. \u201cModern genetically improved dairy cows, such as the Holstein,\u201d the stereotypical black and white cow, can get reimpregnated after giving birth and lactate throughout almost their entire next pregnancy, which means that, these days, commercial cow\u2019s milk contains large amounts of pregnancy hormones, like estrogens and progesterone.\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>As you can see in the graph below and at 2:42 in my<a href=\"https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/video\/the-effects-of-hormones-in-dairy-milk-on-cancer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong> video<\/strong><\/a>, during the first eight months of a pregnant cow\u2019s nine-month gestation, hormone levels in her milk <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/3320320\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shoot<\/a> up more than 20-fold. Even so, we\u2019re only talking about a millionth of a gram per quart, easily 10 to 20 times less estrogen hormones than you\u2019d find in a birth control pill. In that case, would drinking it really have an effect on human hormone levels?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-99381\" src=\"https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/2-42.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/2-42.png 1920w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/2-42-960x540.png 960w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/2-42-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/2-42-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/2-42-1536x864.png 1536w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/2-42-480x270.png 480w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/2-42-1200x675.png 1200w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/2-42-720x405.png 720w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/2-42-540x304.png 540w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\"\/><br \/>Researchers analyzed three different estrogens and one progesterone metabolite flowing through the bodies of seven men before and after they drank about a liter of milk. Within hours of drinking the milk, their hormone levels shot up, as you can see in the graph below and at 3:08 in my <a href=\"https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/video\/the-effects-of-hormones-in-dairy-milk-on-cancer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>video<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-99383\" src=\"https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/3-08.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/3-08.png 1920w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/3-08-960x540.png 960w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/3-08-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/3-08-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/3-08-1536x864.png 1536w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/3-08-480x270.png 480w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/3-08-1200x675.png 1200w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/3-08-720x405.png 720w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/3-08-540x304.png 540w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\"\/><br \/>The researchers also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/19496976\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">looked<\/a> at the average levels of female sex steroids flowing through the bodies of six schoolchildren (with an average age of eight) before and after they drank about two cups of milk. Within hours of drinking the milk, their levels shot up, tripling or quadrupling their baseline hormone levels, as you can see in the graph below and at 3:23 in my <a href=\"https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/video\/the-effects-of-hormones-in-dairy-milk-on-cancer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>video<\/strong><\/a>. So, one can imagine the effects milk might have on men or prepubescent children, but what about women? Presumably, women would have high levels of estrogen in their body in the first place, wouldn\u2019t they? Well, not all women.\u00a0<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-99385\" src=\"https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/3-23.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/3-23.png 1920w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/3-23-960x540.png 960w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/3-23-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/3-23-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/3-23-1536x864.png 1536w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/3-23-480x270.png 480w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/3-23-1200x675.png 1200w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/3-23-720x405.png 720w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/3-23-540x304.png 540w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>What about postmenopausal women and endometrial cancer, for example? Estrogens <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/21717454\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">have<\/a> \u201ca central role\u201d in the development of endometrial cancer, cancer of the lining of the uterus. \u201cMilk and dairy products are a source of steroid hormones and growth factors that might have physiological effects in humans.\u201d So, Harvard researchers followed tens of thousands of women and their dairy consumption for decades and found a significantly higher risk of endometrial cancer among postmenopausal women who consumed more dairy, as shown below and at 4:19 in my<a href=\"https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/video\/the-effects-of-hormones-in-dairy-milk-on-cancer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong> video<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-99387\" src=\"https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/4-19.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/4-19.png 1920w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/4-19-960x540.png 960w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/4-19-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/4-19-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/4-19-1536x864.png 1536w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/4-19-480x270.png 480w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/4-19-1200x675.png 1200w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/4-19-720x405.png 720w, https:\/\/nutritionfacts.org\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/4-19-540x304.png 540w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\"\/>What about dietary exposure to hormones and breast cancer?
