In 2024 and beyond, the concept of wellness at home will be a driving factor in the way houses and apartments are built and renovated, thanks to a growing understanding among buyers and renters that our living environment impacts our overall health.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"core-paragraph block-thin text-big\" style=\"\"> As of 2022 (the latest report available), the wellness real estate market was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/globalwellnessinstitute.org\/key-report-charts-and-graphics-gallery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-vars-event=\"body text\" data-vars-click-url=\"https:\/\/globalwellnessinstitute.org\/key-report-charts-and-graphics-gallery\/\">valued at nearly $400 billion<\/a>, according to the Global Wellness Institute (GWI), which defines\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/globalwellnessinstitute.org\/what-is-wellness\/what-is-wellness-lifestyle-real-estate-communities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-vars-event=\"body text\" data-vars-click-url=\"https:\/\/globalwellnessinstitute.org\/what-is-wellness\/what-is-wellness-lifestyle-real-estate-communities\/\">wellness real estate<\/a>\u00a0as \u201chomes that are proactively designed and built to support the holistic health of their residents\u201d and held a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalwellnesssummit.com\/2023-symposium\/2023-symposium-blogs\/on-the-agenda-mixed-use-comes-of-age-why-the-future-is-wellness-wherever-and-whenever-you-need-it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-vars-event=\"body text\" data-vars-click-url=\"https:\/\/www.globalwellnesssummit.com\/2023-symposium\/2023-symposium-blogs\/on-the-agenda-mixed-use-comes-of-age-why-the-future-is-wellness-wherever-and-whenever-you-need-it\/\">dedicated symposium<\/a>\u00a0on the topic in May. Looking ahead, GWI predicts that the wellness real estate market will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 17.4 percent to reach more than $887 billion by 2027. In a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=P9A34xd5OGs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-vars-event=\"body text\" data-vars-click-url=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=P9A34xd5OGs\">2023 healthy home survey<\/a>\u00a0of nearly 1,300 homeowners and renters of single-family homes conducted by real estate market research firm\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/jbrec.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-vars-event=\"body text\" data-vars-click-url=\"https:\/\/jbrec.com\/\">John Burns Research &amp; Consulting<\/a>, 95 percent of respondents said they\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/jamiegold\/2023\/04\/11\/these-three-wellness-factors-top-latest-healthy-homes-survey\/?sh=2b9ea81560b6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-vars-event=\"body text\" data-vars-click-url=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/jamiegold\/2023\/04\/11\/these-three-wellness-factors-top-latest-healthy-homes-survey\/?sh=2b9ea81560b6\">believe their home impacts their health<\/a>, and 73 percent said their health will be a deciding factor when choosing their next home.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"core-paragraph block-thin text-big\" style=\"\"> What constitutes a healthy home, though, can and will vary depending on factors like the geographic location and the preferences of the people living in it, as well as their level of disposable income. Since then, thousands of developers across commercial and residential real estate have adopted the standard. In fact, cold plunge pools were also among\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zillowgroup.com\/news\/2024s-hottest-home-trends\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-vars-event=\"body text\" data-vars-click-url=\"https:\/\/www.zillowgroup.com\/news\/2024s-hottest-home-trends\/\">Zillow\u2019s top six home trends for 2024<\/a>, of which two others were also wellness-focused: pickleball courts and sensory gardens, or green spaces designed to stimulate some combination of the five senses.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"core-paragraph block-thin text-big\" style=\"\"> \u201cWe&#8217;re seeing cryotherapy being a big one that people are starting to ask for,\u201d adds Labadie, speaking on the luxury market. \u201cWe&#8217;re also seeing some demand now for medical recovery centers where people can have outpatient procedures done in their residences and be able to recover in their own building without having to go outdoors.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"core-paragraph block-thin text-big\" style=\"\"> Unsurprisingly, the higher up the income ladder you climb, the more deluxe the wellness home features become.
