Actually, considering I got cut from every sports team I ever tried out for, I&#8217;ve never been any kind of athlete at all\u2014so I had <em>no<\/em> idea what I was getting myself into when I committed to running the famous New York City Marathon this fall.<\/p>\n<p>Had I done even five minutes of research ahead of time, I would have known what to expect during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wellandgood.com\/running-marathon-postpartum\/\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-vars-event=\"body text\" data-vars-click-url=\"https:\/\/www.wellandgood.com\/running-marathon-postpartum\/\">training process<\/a>, but because I went in completely naive, I was genuinely<em> shocked<\/em> at how much my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wellandgood.com\/stretches-for-foot-pain\/\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-vars-event=\"body text\" data-vars-click-url=\"https:\/\/www.wellandgood.com\/stretches-for-foot-pain\/\">feet hurt after every long run<\/a>.
