It seems counterintuitive to steer clear of whole, nutrient-rich foods like mangoes and citrus, but some fruits just aren\u2019t the best for those with blood sugar concerns.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, you may be happy to know that one popular fruit out there may actually <em>benefit<\/em> blood sugar, according to new research.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><\/div>\n<div id=\"\"><!--$--><\/p>\n<div end=\"false\" class=\"sc-11rlt5o-4 dblBVm\">\n<p>We\u2019re talking about avocados\u2014and yes, they are technically a fruit even though they don\u2019t taste like candy.<\/p>\n<p>The new research on this creamy fruit was published in the <em>Journal of Nutrition<\/em>, stating that avocado intake was strongly linked to lower\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0022316623725224\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"mbg-track-event\" data-track-event-types=\"click\" data-track-type=\"article-link\" data-track-prop-element-id=\"in-body-link\" data-track-prop-label=\"page_type | element_id\" data-track-prop-category=\"Link\" data-track-prop-link=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0022316623725224\" rel=\"noopener\">fasting blood sugar, lower fasting insulin, and reduced risk of type 2 diabetes<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Researchers analyzed data from 6,224 older adults, taking particular interest in how many avocados a person consumed as well as their fasting blood sugar and insulin levels.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>They also looked at avocado-specific metabolites in the blood\u2014which indicates that someone had eaten an avocado. This metric varies from person to person depending on how they metabolize avocados. And it showed that for <em>some<\/em> people, avocados may be beneficial for blood sugar balance\u2014but not necessarily for everyone.
