This yields the thin, white liquid that makes an easy addition to smoothies, baked goods, and your morning coffee.<\/p>\n<p>Just note that \u201cmilking\u201d almonds removes some of their inherent nutritional value.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVersus whole\u00a0almonds,\u00a0almond\u00a0milk\u00a0has much less fiber, protein, and even less of some antioxidants. Since the skins contain antioxidants, those are lost in processing,&#8221; Jones adds.<\/p>\n<p>Depending on the almond milk you choose, you may also get less calcium in a cup of\u00a0almond\u00a0milk\u00a0than in a serving of whole\u00a0almonds. (Straining out almond pulp tends to remove calcium.)<\/p>\n<p>That said, most commercially available almond milks are fortified with calcium\u2014often resulting in higher levels than a glass of cow\u2019s milk.
