My feet, calves, and hamstrings took a particularly intense kneading. It felt like she was disentangling the rigid strands of a thick rope in a way that was incredibly needed.<\/p>\n<p>As we wrapped up and I was thanking her, she gave me some advice: \u201cYou need to soak your feet in warm water for 15 minutes every night,\u201d Lulu said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor my calves?\u201d I asked. \u201cAnd legs,\u201d Lulu replied.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOkay, but\u2026\u201d I didn\u2019t get to finish my question of, well, \u201cwhy?\u201d before Lulu whisked out of the room, off to her next lucky client.<\/p>\n<p>My upper and lower leg muscles are tight because of the running, dead lifting, and non-ergonomic sitting I do on the regular. I also have pretty <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wellandgood.com\/flat-feet-exercises\/\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-vars-event=\"body text\" data-vars-click-url=\"https:\/\/www.wellandgood.com\/flat-feet-exercises\/\">flat feet<\/a>, which can pull on my calf muscles and tendons when I walk, further straining them and causing tension. She was all for it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSoaking feet in hot water reduces inflammation and stimulates circulation,\u201d Linares says. \u201cTherefore, it will help reduce pain or discomfort to lower extremities such as lower back, hips, and legs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sitting or standing for long periods of time causes blood to pool in the lower body, \u201cwhich adds pressure to leg veins and compromises their structural integrity,\u201d Kate Denniston, ND, a licensed naturopathic doctor at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.losangelesintegrativehealth.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-vars-event=\"body text\" data-vars-click-url=\"https:\/\/www.losangelesintegrativehealth.com\/\">Los Angeles Integrative Health<\/a>\u00a0clinic,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wellandgood.com\/improve-blood-circulation-naturally\/\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-vars-event=\"body text\" data-vars-click-url=\"https:\/\/www.wellandgood.com\/improve-blood-circulation-naturally\/\">previously told Well+Good<\/a>. That\u2019s why Linares says paying attention to your feet can pay off in other parts of the body.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWarm water will increase circulation, which helps with cell recovery,\u201d Linares says.
