And often, those methods can strip the wine of other important, flavor-enhancing ingredients like tannins and floral aromas, which can end up making for a flat and bland beverage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLuckily, the polyphenols, the antioxidants found in red wine, remain intact even when the alcohol is removed,\u201d said Krista Maguire, RD, and senior nutrition manager at BODi. \u201cA 2012 study in <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ahajournals.org\/doi\/full\/10.1161\/CIRCRESAHA.112.275636\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Circulation Research<\/a><\/i>\u00a0showed that non-alcoholic wine might also benefit heart health.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also, by taking away the alcohol, you lose the aromas that define most wines because those smells are carried to your nose by the alcohol evaporating off the vino\u2019s surface. That doesn\u2019t happen with the non-alcohol versions.<\/p>\n<p>But there are a few wineries out there that are getting pretty good at making a passable faux-vino.
