Similarly, the fungal profile has both beneficial (e.g. <em>Galactomyces, Pichia<\/em>) and pathogenic (e.g. <em>Candida albicans<\/em>) microorganisms.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Figure 3 shows that even though subjects included in the study were healthy, their microbiome clustered together into three different groups (Groups 1, 2, and 3). But what about the mycobiome component of these microbiome groups? In our analysis, not surprisingly, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mindbodygreen.com\/articles\/candida-signs-symptoms-of-overgrowth-how-to-test-it\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"mbg-track-event\" data-track-event-types=\"click\" data-track-type=\"article-link\" data-track-prop-element-id=\"in-body-link\" data-track-prop-label=\"page_type | element_id\" data-track-prop-category=\"Link\" data-track-prop-link=\"https:\/\/www.mindbodygreen.com\/articles\/candida-signs-symptoms-of-overgrowth-how-to-test-it\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Candida<\/em><\/a><em> <\/em>species were the key players. The presence of <em>Candida <\/em>did not appear to be associated more strongly with any of the three groups\u2014some of the microbiomes in each of the groups had high levels of <em>Candida, <\/em>and some did not.<\/p>\n<p>It is important to remember that <em>Candida<\/em> are normal inhabitants of the human gut\u2014many people have <em>Candida albicans, C. glabrata, <\/em>and sometimes <em>C. tropicalis <\/em>and <em>C. parapsilosis, <\/em>and these people can be perfectly healthy. However, when <em>Candida <\/em>was present and elevated (as often happens after<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mindbodygreen.com\/articles\/support-your-gut-after-round-of-antibiotics\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"mbg-track-event\" data-track-event-types=\"click\" data-track-type=\"article-link\" data-track-prop-element-id=\"in-body-link\" data-track-prop-label=\"page_type | element_id\" data-track-prop-category=\"Link\" data-track-prop-link=\"https:\/\/www.mindbodygreen.com\/articles\/support-your-gut-after-round-of-antibiotics\" rel=\"noopener\"> a course of antibiotics<\/a>, or with immune system problems or gut permeability issues), the subjects tended to have an overgrowth of this fungus.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-type=\"_mgwidget\" data-widget-id=\"1675549\">\r\n<\/div>\r\n<script>(function(w,q){w[q]=w[q]||[];w[q].push([\"_mgc.load\"])})(window,\"_mgq\");\r\n<\/script>\r\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our results show that both beneficial (e.g. Faecalibacterium, Lactobacillus, Prevotella) as well as pathogenic (e.g. Serratia, Ruminococcus) microorganisms were detected in fecal samples of healthy subjects.
