You can think of fast and slow-twitch fibers like the tortoise and the hare. Fast-twitch fibers tire out as quickly as they can move, while slow-titch fibers support well-paced activities and are much more fatigue-resistant.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to celebrity trainer and founder of the NWMethod,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nicolewinhoffer.com\/nicole#mystory\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" class=\"mbg-track-event\" data-track-event-types=\"click\" data-track-type=\"article-link\" data-track-prop-element-id=\"in-body-link\" data-track-prop-label=\"page_type | element_id\" data-track-prop-category=\"Link\" data-track-prop-link=\"https:\/\/www.nicolewinhoffer.com\/nicole#mystory\">Nicole Winhoffer<\/a>, you\u2019ll see different results if you\u2019re lifting fewer repetitions of heavier weights than if you were to do more reps of lighter weights because you\u2019re working different muscle fibers, and exercising them differently.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLifting heavier requires larger dominant muscle groups (ie. bicep, tricep, quad, and glute) to complete more work and recruit more muscle fibers to lift the load,\u201d Winhoffer explains. This means that these targeted muscle groups will bulk up.
