Not only did he smash his own record-setting deadlift, but the man they call \u201cThor\u201d also claimed a Strongman Open title during the very same weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The Icelandic warrior was in Birmingham, England, for the Strongman Open and Mutant Deadlift Championships 2025, and the former Game of Thrones star proved once again why he is fit to be called the king of strength sports. Bjo\u0308rnsson marked his return to the Giants Live event, hosted at the Utilita Arena with an incredible performance in the deadlifting championship.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019d previously set a world record in 2020 with 1,105 pounds (501 kilograms) but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muscleandfitness.com\/athletes-celebrities\/news\/hafthor-bjornsson-wins-12th-icelands-strongest-man-after-historic-505kg-world-record\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in July, 2025, he managed top that feat and raise 1,113 pounds<\/a> (505 kilograms).\u00a0 Now, less than three months later, Thor broke his previous record again by deadlifting an incredible 1,124 pounds (510 kilograms) to cement himself as one of the greatest strongmen of all time, and the clear deadlift world record holder.<\/p>\n<p>The big man made the best of Birmingham\u2019s supportive crowd of around 7,000 fans, pulling the bar smoothly from start to finish. \u201cCrazy how easy it felt,\u201d said Thor of the experience via Instagram. \u201cI honestly believe I could have deadlifted 530kg yesterday.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Critics Hail Haf\u00feo\u0301r Ju\u0301li\u0301us Bjo\u0308rnsson\u2019s Performance<\/h2>\n<p>Of course, beating his own world record would not be enough for Bjo\u0308rnsson. He then entered, and <a href=\"https:\/\/giants-live.com\/news\/bjornsson-smashes-510kg-to-take-both-titles-in-birmingham\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dominated the Strongman Open<\/a>, completing five further events before an 8-point lead over Bryce Johnson gave him victory.\u00a0 During his previous record in July, heds taken his twelfth Iceland\u2019s Strongest Man trophy, too.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWas this the greatest performance in strength sports history?\u201d asked the Giants Live Instagram account following Thor\u2019s history making display. \u201cNo question,\u201d responded a fan. \u201cThe greatest strength performance in history \u2014 by quite a large margin. Thor is the strongest man ever to have walked the earth.\u201d Others were quick to point out the apparent ease with which Thor lifted the bar. \u201cEddie after 500 went straight to (an) ambulance. Thor pulled 510 and then won the whole contest,\u201d wrote one follower.
