No supplements, no store-bought or processed ingredients\u2014just pure, wild, seasonal nourishment straight from his environment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here\u2019s what his diet looked like:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em>Chestnuts and acorns\u2014typically soaked, ground, and cooked into a porridge over an open flame (hello ancestral carbs and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthline.com\/nutrition\/polyphenols\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">polyphenols<\/a>, the powerful plant compounds known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects).<\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wild greens, berries, and mushrooms, hand-picked from the forest floor (loaded with more polyphenols and rare microbial species).<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Freshwater fish and venison, cooked over a wood fire, providing bioavailable protein and nourishing fats without industrial seed oils.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tree sap, honey, and seasonal fruit when available, rounding out the macro profile with natural sugars and prebiotic-rich compounds.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How did the experiment turn out? After the four weeks:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2714\ufe0f He lost nearly 8 pounds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2714\ufe0f His gut microbiome exploded in diversity, with major upticks in fiber-fermenting species and anti-inflammatory strains like <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Blautia<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Faecalibacterium<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. At the same time, modern-diet-associated microbes like <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">F. prausnitzii <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bifidobacterium <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">dropped, likely due to cutting out dairy and other domesticated foods.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2714\ufe0f Many of the changes persisted even after he returned to a modern diet, suggesting that even a short ancestral-style reset can have lasting effects on your gut ecology.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, what does this tell us?\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>You don\u2019t need a shelf full of probiotics and fancy foods to overhaul your gut or shed some weight\u2014you need to feed it like nature intended.<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even without returning to a fully \u201cancestral\u201d gut microbiome, this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41598-025-00319-5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">one-man case study<\/a> showed wild foods alone sparked a new and diverse microbial configuration, which is a gut shift that researchers have not seen with other diets like keto, vegan, or even high-fiber plant-based.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This man&#8217;s \u201cwild diet\u201d wasn\u2019t high-protein or high-fat\u2014it was mostly plant-based with modest animal intake, but the source and form of macronutrients were drastically different from his usual eating patterns.
