I also recap my upcoming events and special announcements so you can keep up with opportunities to learn, giveaways, discounts, and more!<\/em><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>I\u2019m often asked how I manage to get in high-quality resistance training when I\u2019m on the road, short on time, or simply not in the mood to lift heavy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My answer? Blood flow restriction training\u2014also known as BFR or \u201cocclusion training.\u201d It\u2019s a simple, science-backed technique I use to fool my muscles into thinking they\u2019re under a heavy load, even when I\u2019m just using bodyweight or resistance bands.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here\u2019s how it works (as demonstrated in the video above): you lightly cuff or wrap your limbs to partially restrict blood flow out of the working muscles (while still allowing blood in). This creates a low-oxygen (hypoxic) environment that mimics high-intensity strength training. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>The result?<\/em> You get all the muscle-building and strength gains of a heavy lift using just 20\u201330% of your max effort, with far less wear and tear on your joints.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This makes BFR perfect for rehab, travel, busy days, and even longevity-focused training. It amps up growth hormone, boosts metabolic stress, and recruits more muscle fibers, all without needing a full gym setup.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now, a quick note on terminology: \u201cBFR\u201d is the general category that refers to any tool or band that restricts blood flow.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But <a href=\"https:\/\/bengreenfieldfitness.com\/Kaatsu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">KAATSU is the gold standard system<\/a> I personally use and recommend. These toxins accumulate in your body over time, amplifying harm with consistent exposure.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">Additionally, another salt favorite\u2014regular table salt\u2014is full of microplastics, which can carry toxins or cause inflammation. One <a href=\"https:\/\/pubs.acs.org\/doi\/10.1021\/acs.est.8b04180\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">study published in <em>Environmental Science &amp; Technology<\/em><\/a> discovered that the average adult consumes 2,000 microplastics a year from salt.
