{"id":13966,"date":"2025-04-16T23:09:00","date_gmt":"2025-04-16T16:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/loudhdtv.com\/?p=13966"},"modified":"2025-04-16T23:09:00","modified_gmt":"2025-04-16T16:09:00","slug":"christian-kane-uses-body-weight-training-in-order-to-do-his-own-stunts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/loudhdtv.com\/?p=13966","title":{"rendered":"Christian Kane Uses Body-weight Training In Order to Do His Own Stunts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Actor and singer-songwriter Christian Kane is known for appearing in hit shows like <em>Angel, The Librarians,<\/em> and <em>Almost Paradise<\/em>, and he\u2019s also set to reprise his role as Elliot Spencer, the heavy-hitter and Black Ops soldier turned \u201cretrieval specialist\u201d in <em>Leverage: Redemption.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>During his packed career, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/christiankane1\/\">Kane has<\/a> aced all of his own fight sequences and is often called upon for his input as a stunt coordinator. <em>M&amp;F<\/em> sat down with the highly physical performer to find out how he became so hands-on, and how he stays in shape between takes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI grew up in Texas before I moved to Oklahoma, and Texas football is king down there,\u201d Kane, 52, reflects on the origins of his ability to take a hit. \u201cI had really great coaches and looked at them as teaching me really good ethics, really good workmanship and concentration, and commitment. In Oklahoma I started wrestling. The same thing happened there. They were rough and they would punch you in the face. I grew up being in shape. I grew up with no other alternative. It\u2019s been a lifelong thing that I\u2019ve taken with me as the discipline.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While growing up, Kane also looked to the movies to inspire his muscle. He recalls that former football player Brian Bosworth\u2019s starring in role in Stone Cold really turned his head. \u201cYou\u2019re watching Stallone, you\u2019re watching Van Damme, you\u2019re watching <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muscleandfitness.com\/athletes-celebrities\/interviews\/dolph-lundgren-plans-stay-spotlight\/\">Dolph Lundgren<\/a> and my boss, Dean Devlin, who I\u2019ve worked with since 2008\u2014he wrote and produced <em>Universal Soldier.<\/em> So that was a big thing.\u201d (Devlin also serves as executive producer on<a href=\"https:\/\/www.primevideo.com\/detail\/Leverage-Redemption\/0NPGCH36R5K0Q5YGBZ08GJXO8I\"> <em>Leverage: Redemption<\/em><\/a>.)<\/p>\n<h2>Christian Kane Lives by the Quote: \u201990 Percent of Life Is Showing Up\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cMy first acting job was a lead on a television series (Fame L.A.),\u201d says Kane. \u201cI\u2019d only been out here for six months but the role I played was a singer, so I started my acting and singing career professionally on the very same day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Woody Allen\u2019s quote \u201c90% of life is showing up,\u201d is an ethos that he still holds dear to his heart, even though the roles have become more physically demanding over the years. His performances in <em>Almost Paradise<\/em> and <em>Leverage<\/em> have left a permanent mark.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know, my face is a road map to where I\u2019ve been,\u201d he explains. Indeed, stitches have been par for the course for Kane, including a whopping 17 stitches picked up during the filming of the movie, Secondhand Lions (2003). \u201cThe guy threw a left when he was supposed to throw a right,\u201d recollects Kane. \u201cI\u2019ve had 67 stitches in my face.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite the dangers, the rugged action veteran wouldn\u2019t have it any other way. Kane explains that he has always been motivated by Bruce Lee, in that you learn to fight by fighting. \u201cI\u2019ve been very fortunate,\u201d he says. \u201cNo one has ever doubled me in a fight and I\u2019m going to keep doing it until I can\u2019t anymore, or somebody says that I can\u2019t, because this is something I\u2019ve always loved.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kane\u2019s contributions to on-screen action are evident behind the camera too, helping to craft the fights. \u201cIt\u2019s a dance,\u201d he explains. \u201cA very violent dance, but I count 1,2,3,4.\u201d In terms of how he conceives some of those exciting fight sequences, the actor shares that he is a longtime MMA fan and also <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Arnis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">learned a little Arnis<\/a>, also known as Kali, the national martial art of the Philippines. \u201cKali is the art of striking and blocking at the same time,\u201d he explains.<\/p>\n<p>Kane doesn\u2019t look like he\u2019ll he slowing down any time soon: Those who are excited for the return of Leverage: Redemption may have noticed a teaser on the star\u2019s Instagram account that shows him leaping over a car in what turned out to be a very difficult fight sequence. The scene itself was shot in Serbia, under extremely hot conditions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m fighting six guys and I\u2019m jumping over stuff. Clearing car was very difficult,\u201d he reflects. \u201cI mean, I\u2019m wearing 16-pound combat boots and the jeans don\u2019t flex. When I was done, I didn\u2019t have any breath left. I was sitting on the curb. Then they said \u2018That\u2019s a wrap,\u2019 and the feeling you get when that happens. It\u2019s one of the most exhilarating things!\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Christian Kane Keeps His Body In-Check with Body Weight Exercises<\/h2>\n<p>With long shoots often taking place early in the morning and late into the night, not to mention his music gigs with his band, \u201cKane,\u201d finding the time to workout is always a challenge, but the passionate performer has found a way to say consistent through body weight exercise sessions that he can complete anywhere.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, what I started doing was working out at lunch time,\u201d he reveals. \u201cThat\u2019s when I lock myself in my trailer.\u201d Kane cycles through stretching, pushups, triceps dips, squats, and crunches in one super-time efficient exercise session. \u201cYou gotta find what\u2019s right for your body,\u201d he concludes.<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to his much-deserved downtime, Kane is still trying to figure out why he likes golf so much. \u201cI wish I could tell you that it\u2019s relaxing\u2026It\u2019s not even close to being relaxing,\u201d he jokes. \u201cI don\u2019t know how many sets of clubs I\u2019ve bought. I usually break three of them during a round. I wish I could tell you that it\u2019s relaxing and stuff like that.
