salmon is the best to buy based on fishing and farming practices. In general, I look for wild-caught salmon.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Avocado Oil: <\/strong>this oil holds up better to the high heat of the grill than olive oil.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sea Salt and Black Pepper: <\/strong>enhances the flavor of the salmon.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Marinade or Sauce:<\/strong> after grilling, serve up your salmon with your favorite sauce or brush with a go-to salmon marinade. I used teriyaki sauce on the ones from this post.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-make-grilled-salmon\">How to Make Grilled Salmon<\/h2>\n<p>This grilled salmon recipe is simple to put together in a few steps.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marinate:<\/strong> If you want to marinate your salmon in a sauce (like bbq, teriyaki, soy sauce, etc) before cooking, you\u2019ll want to get it in the marinade and back in the fridge at least a couple of hours before you\u2019re ready to grill.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prep the grill: <\/strong>Preheat grill to medium-high (if using a gas grill) or allow your charcoal grill time to warm up for cooking and clean grill grates well with a metal grill brush. Oil grates after cleaning by dipping a paper towel in oil and rubbing onto the outdoor grill grates by holding the oiled paper towel with metal tongs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prep the salmon<\/strong>: Pat each piece of salmon dry with paper towels. Rub oil all over the salmon filets. Grill until the salmon lifts from the grates without sticking, about 3-5 minutes. Flip the salmon and brush with sauce (if using). Cook until the salmon lifts from the grates without sticking and flakes with a fork, 1 to 2 minutes more and the fish has reached an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit. Be careful not to overcook \u2013 it goes quick! Serve the grilled fish with desired toppings (teriyaki sauce or pesto are two of my favorites).\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Gas or charcoal grill<\/li>\n<li>Metal grill tongs<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/gethealthyu.com\/best-kitchen-gadgets-amazon\/\" data-lasso-id=\"82174\">Chef\u2019s knife<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Silicone basting brush<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-tips-for-making-the-best-grilled-salmon\">Tips for Making the Best Grilled Salmon<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Clean and oil the grates of your grill well before cooking your salmon to prevent sticking. A tip for oiling the grates of your grill while hot is to dip a paper towel in oil and hold it with tongs to rub onto the grates of your grill.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Always pick up salmon with the skin for grilling. Salmon (and other fish) is notoriously difficult to grill because it\u2019s so tender and can fall apart easily. Buying skin on salmon helps it hold together better when grilling.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure to oil both sides of the salmon fillets before grilling to prevent sticking.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Do not move the salmon once you add it to the grill.
