But now in the big leagues of WWE SmackDown, Hayes finds himself in a locker room filled with legends like Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, and a soon to be retiring John Cena.\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">M&amp;F<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0sat down with the cool and collected Carmelo, as he explained why he\u2019s eying the \u2018You Can\u2019t See Me\u2019 star, and what a typical day on the road with WWE looks like.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As WrestleMania season is now in full swing, 30-year-old WWE Superstar Carmello Hayes (real name: Christian Brigham)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0says that going from wrestling a couple of nights a week to meeting WWE\u2019s demanding schedule takes some adjusting too, but he is certainly enjoying the ride. Currently on the SmackDown brand, Hayes likes to stay in a hotel close to the airport of whichever city he\u2019s wrestling in so that he can fly back home quickly, but when on an extended tour the grappler finds himself in a different town for several days at a time. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI mean, I know it can be hectic,\u201d he tells\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">M&amp;F.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u201cThere\u2019s been times when it\u2019s been very hectic, like for example this UK tour that we have coming up, we\u2019re hitting a lot of cities out there for a couple of weeks. I\u2019m super excited about that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-caption \">\n<div style=\"padding-bottom:55.36519386835%;\" class=\"ratio-based-placeholder\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.muscleandfitness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Carmello-Hayes-entering-the-WWE-ring.jpg?quality=86&amp;strip=all\" srcset=\"\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" alt=\"Carmello Hayes entering the WWE ring\" width=\"1109\" height=\"614\" data-fallback-img=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.muscleandfitness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Carmello-Hayes-entering-the-WWE-ring.jpg?quality=86&amp;strip=all\"\/><\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span class=\"credit\">WWE<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>Carmelo Hayes says it is \u2018Very Cool\u2019 Being Present for John Cena\u2019s Farewell Lap<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While Hayes has fans around the world, another reason to look forward to March\u2019s 2025 \u201cRoad to WrestleMania UK\u201d tour is the fact that John Cena has also thrown his hat into the ring, appearing and potentially <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muscleandfitness.com\/athletes-celebrities\/news\/what-to-expect-from-john-cenas-retirement-from-the-wwe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">performing for the last time<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0in London (March 31) and Glasgow (March 24).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With both wrestlers hailing from Massachusetts, the young lion will be eyeing 16-time World Champion John Cena, to see if he can learn anything from one of the greatest WWE icons of all-time. \u201cHe\u2019s somebody that\u2019s, if you look at the landscape of our locker room right now, we\u2019re very fortunate,\u201d he says. \u201cWe have a lot of heavy hitters that (have) been around the block. Cena\u2019s just one of those guys that has just done it all. So, I mean, it\u2019s very cool just being in his presence. It\u2019s very cool to just pick his brain a little bit here and there and see what he\u2019s thinking, what he\u2019s going through. Man, like he\u2019s earned this. He\u2019s earned this story. He\u2019s earned this kind of \u2018go home\u2019 for himself and this farewell for himself\u2026 He\u2019s one of the biggest stars ever to come out of the WWE.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>How Carmelo <b>Hayes<\/b> Spends His Day While on the Road with WWE<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Whether he\u2019s in London in England or London in Ontario, Canada, Hayes consistently proves himself to be a dedicated athlete. Having wowed audiences with his high-octane style during one of his epic wrestling matches, Hayes then hits the showers before attempting to get some downtime in the hotel. \u201cYour adrenaline is high,\u201d he explains of the challenges of chilling out. \u201cI\u2019ll call my girlfriend (fellow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/kelani_wwe\/?hl=en-gb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WWE star Kelani Jordan<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) and just decompress. The more (shows you do), the easier it becomes to come down, because it just becomes normal.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of course, trying to relax after exciting performances, like February\u2019s Royal Rumble when Hayes drew number four and wrestled before a crowd of more than 70,000 in Indianapolis, is anything but a \u2018normal\u2019 state of affairs. \u201cThere are moments where I have to really appreciate how freaking cool this is,\u201d he shares. But after he\u2019s soaked in those moments and come back down to earth, the entertainer understands that sleep is important because \u201cIt\u2019s right back to it tomorrow.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Often tomorrow can bring an early morning media call, but when the chance to sleep-in arrives, Carmelo likes to stay comfy for as long as possible. Breakfast or a light lunch is often next, or straight into a workout followed by a meal. Either way, Haye\u2019s says he concentrates on protein pre and post workout. When it comes to gyms, traveling pro wrestlers can\u2019t always be picky. \u201cBut every now and then you\u2019ll find a really good gym,\u201d he says. \u201cI was in Saudi Arabia and there was a gym that was like one of the best gyms I\u2019ve ever been to. That\u2019s the cool thing about being on the road and traveling.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When appearing on SmackDown, Hayes is usually required to arrive at the arena six hours before the show starts. \u201cBecause a lot goes into doing television,\u201d he explains. \u201cFor live events and things like that, maybe it\u2019s three hours.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Since starting with WWE\u2019s NXT brand in 2021, Hayes has paid close attention to the strength and conditioning coaches in the group\u2019s Performance Center. It is there that he picked up the greater details of his gym training, such as feeling the stretch, making slow and controlled reps, and really feeling the time under tension.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Thankfully, his focus on form appears to be paying off, and Haye\u2019s is hungry to take the spot of those icons that went before him. \u201cYou know, I\u2019ve been showing week in and week out that my talent speaks for itself,\u201d says a confident Carmelo. \u201cPeople want to bring up wins and losses and things like that, but in my mind, you know, I\u2019m going out there and putting on a hell of a show and I\u2019m learning. I\u2019m getting better. I\u2019m enjoying what I\u2019m doing and it\u2019s only the beginning,\u201d he says.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wins and losses have never been as important to WWE fans as being entertained by the types of special moments that Carmelo Hayes can potentially bring to the table. John Cena is proof positive that fans reward their favorites with cheers based on the work that they put in, rather than those stats decided in WWE\u2019s creative room backstage.
