For years, the musician already established himself as one of country music\u2019s top songwriters, but in 2024 the Nashville native solidified himself as one of country music\u2019s fastest-rising singers.<\/p>\n<p>ERNEST was primarily renowned for his writing skills, penning hits for stars such as Morgan Wallen\u2014including the recently Grammy-nominated \u201cI Had Some Help\u201d and \u201cCowgirls.\u201d He\u2019s now closing the year showcasing his singing skills\u2014this time in front of a global audience. Naturally this career-defining moment deserves a few extra moments to reflect on just how much a whirlwind 2024 actually was.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNormally, there are some shots, some prayers, and then we head out to the stage,\u201d he shares. \u201cBut before New Year\u2019s Eve, I think we\u2019re going to add a little moment just to take in the entirety of the year. It\u2019s been incredible, and I\u2019m so grateful for all the opportunities that have come my way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For ERNEST, the entire\u00a0 year filled with remarkable firsts. As a singer, his first song finally the airwaves. \u201cWould If I Could,\u201d a duet with Lainey Wilson, is now rapidly climbing the country charts and is becoming a crossover hit. And as a songwriter, \u201cI Had Some Help,\u201d performed by Wallen and Post Malone, helped earn ERNEST his first Grammy Award nomination for Best Country Song.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we wrote \u201cI Had Some Help,\u201d we knew we had something special but couldn\u2019t have predicted how big it would become,\u201d he says. \u201cI\u00a0 had to be reminded the other day just because being a Grammy nominee doesn\u2019t feel real yet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>How will the excitement translate to his New Year\u2019s Eve performance? With all the positive accolades boosting his reputation within country music as an all-around artist, tonight\u2019s <em>Rockin\u2019 Eve<\/em> performance\u2014which will air live on ABC beginning at 8 PM ET and stream on Hulu on New Year\u2019s Day\u2014ERNEST is amped to perform his latest hit, \u201cWhy Dallas\u201d from his latest album <em>Nashville, Tennessee <\/em>in front a wider audience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPerforming on New Year\u2019s Eve this year is an honest dream,\u201d ERNEST says. \u201cI think it\u2019s the adrenaline that will keep it going this time. I\u2019m already a big night owl from being used to touring and spending late nights in the studio, but this year, we\u2019re just really pumped to be part of it and perform.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>From Pitching to Performing<\/h3>\n<p>With his success on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muscleandfitness.com\/athletes-celebrities\/interviews\/chase-rice-used-his-college-football-mindset-to-help-conquer-country-music\/\">country music<\/a> circuit, adrenaline isn\u2019t only derived from the excitement of performing\u2014ERNEST\u2019s athleticism has played a role in his onstage performances.<\/p>\n<p>Before diving into the music scene, ERNEST was a star high school pitcher in Nashville. Surprisingly enough, he once pitched against Wallen when the two were teenage pitching prospects. He said it\u2019s still hard to fathom sometimes how the two have come full circle\u2014now performing together on an even bigger stage than the baseball diamond.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMorgan and I actually played against each other in high school, which is crazy to think about now,\u201d he reminisces with a laugh. \u201cBack then, we were competing with dreams of playing in college. However, athletics still remains a big part of ERNEST\u2019s routine\u2014and if you\u2019ve seen his Instagram, you can see he\u2019s full of athletic energy, whether he\u2019s shooting hoops or sporting a wardrobe brimming with one of his closet full of custom jerseys, including sports legends like Peyton Manning and DeAndre Hopkins, (\u201cI have too many jerseys to count,\u201d he says).<\/p>\n<p>He says he still channels his inner athlete each time he hits the stage, and Tuesday night won\u2019t be any different.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPerforming onstage 100 percent requires athleticism,\u201d ERNEST asserts. \u201cRunning around, having fun onstage, and singing all demand endurance. You want to be able to vocally give all you have to each stage each night.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Once the curtain comes down on 2025, ERNEST has his sights and fitness goals set for 2025. More touring and more projects means the need for a more fit-focused approach to the year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been fortunate to tour with amazing artists like Morgan Wallen and Jelly Roll while also headlining my shows. We have some exciting tours to announce next year, so the training is in full swing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cDick Clark\u2019s New Year\u2019s Rockin\u2019 Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2025,\u201d will air Tuesday, Dec. 31, live on ABC beginning at 8:00 p.m. EST and stream next day on Hulu.
