Osiel isn\u2019t hearing for the first time, but he experienced sound in a very different way than ever before when our pediatric audiologist performed the cochlear implant activation. This step takes place after cochlear implant surgery, when the audiologist \u201cturns on\u201d the implant and it begins to send signals that are translated into sound for Osiel.
