Rapid weight loss can be unhealthy and unsustainable.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Incorporate Exercise: <\/strong>Along with a healthier diet, regular exercise is essential for losing weight! It also comes with an array of health benefits, including a decreased risk of cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity <a data-lasso-id=\"60644\" href=\"https:\/\/gethealthyu.com\/best-cardio-workouts-weight-loss\/\">aerobic exercise<\/a>, and 1 to 2 <a data-lasso-id=\"60645\" href=\"https:\/\/gethealthyu.com\/strength-training-moves-for-women-over-50\/\">strength training sessions<\/a> per week to boost calories burned and help accelerate fat loss.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Get Enough Sleep<\/strong>: Aim for <a href=\"https:\/\/gethealthyu.com\/7-tips-for-a-better-nights-sleep\/\" data-lasso-id=\"60646\">7-9 hours of quality sleep<\/a> per night. Walk during your work day<\/h3>\n<p>Tempted to sit while you work all day? Don\u2019t do it! Sitting all day makes you stiff, and doesn\u2019t help at all with weight loss. If you\u2019re buying them for economic reasons (we get it!), try not to eat directly from large packages. Portion out your amount and put the rest away.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-6-get-sneaky-with-labels\">6. Get sneaky with labels<\/h3>\n<p>Can\u2019t ditch the snack foods completely? Label your favorite food packages with the correct portion size of that snack <em>and<\/em> the amount of exercise needed to burn it off. It might make you less likely to overindulge!\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-7-learn-to-pour-perfect-portions\">7. Learn to pour perfect portions<\/h3>\n<p>Here\u2019s an example: Wine is great, but any dietitian will tell you to stick to the right amount. Use a <a href=\"https:\/\/gethealthyu.com\/best-kitchen-gadgets-amazon\/\" data-lasso-id=\"61051\">measuring cup<\/a> to pour a five-ounce serving before pouring the wine into your glass. After a few times, you\u2019ll know exactly how much to pour.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-8-clean-out-your-fridge\">8. Clean out your fridge<\/h3>\n<p>A clean refrigerator can showcase your healthy foods, making diet-friendly eating a little easier. Put single-serving containers of Greek yogurt, fruit, vegetables, and low-fat dairy products on the front shelves so you can see them right away while browsing.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-9-use-photo-apps-as-a-food-diary\">9. Use photo apps as a food diary<\/h3>\n<p>Not every dieter counts calories. But you can still keep a food diary to hold yourself accountable and to promote diet-friendly choices. Sometimes, seeing what you\u2019ve eaten in one day or a week is very eye-opening.\u00a0Check out a popular app, <a data-lasso-id=\"60656\" href=\"https:\/\/www.myfitnesspal.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MyFitnessPal<\/a>, or use an old-fashioned notebook.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-10-avoid-processed-foods-as-much-as-possible\">10. Avoid processed foods as much as possible<\/h3>\n<p>Quick microwavable meals are often high in calories and fat and low in nutrition. Similarly, packaged foods are notorious for artificial food coloring, flavors, additives, and fillers that leave you bloated, inflamed, and low on energy.<\/p>\n<p>Try to start following the idea of eating real whole foods, whole grains, plants, and <a href=\"https:\/\/gethealthyu.com\/metabolism-boosting-foods\/\" data-lasso-id=\"65620\">fat burning, metabolism boosting foods<\/a>.\u00a0Remember, real food often doesn\u2019t have a label because there is nothing added to it! De-clutter your countertops<\/h3>\n<p>Researchers out of <a href=\"https:\/\/news.cornell.edu\/stories\/2016\/02\/kitchen-mayhem-can-be-diet-killer-study-says#:~:text=A%20new%20Cornell%20study%20explored,the%20number%20of%20calories%20consumed.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"60658\">Cornell University<\/a> found that a cluttered kitchen can cause you to overeat. Clear off your countertops to give yourself the space you need to prepare healthy meals.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-12-eat-before-you-shop\">12. Eat before you shop<\/h3>\n<p>Never go to the grocery store hungry or after a hard exercise session. You\u2019re more likely to <a href=\"https:\/\/gethealthyu.com\/blue-zone-foods-for-longevity\/\" data-lasso-id=\"60659\">choose health-focused foods<\/a> if you roam the aisles with a full belly.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-13-enjoy-a-post-meal-mint\">13. Enjoy a post-meal mint<\/h3>\n<p>Peppermint and other minty flavors help you to stop eating. Chew gum after dinner or brush your teeth to derail post-meal snacking. Unplug to practice mindful eating<\/h3>\n<p>Avoid distractions at mealtime. Turn off the television and walk away from your computer when you eat to avoid mindless eating practices that often lead to <em>overeating.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-15-choose-a-single-indulgence\">15.
