Sedation makes your child relaxed and sleepy, but they remain awake for the procedure, while general anesthesia puts your child into a deep sleep.<\/p>\n<p>Both sedation and general anesthesia are meant to relax your child and are used to reduce pain, anxiety and your child\u2019s movement during the procedure. Sedation is usually recommended for older children who can speak and don\u2019t have any major health concerns. Although your child will be drowsy, this means your child\u2019s dentist can still communicate with them during the procedure.
