The next visit, though, was very different. Tara\u2019s doctor diagnosed them with twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), which is a rare condition created by abnormal blood vessel connections in identical twins that creates imbalanced blood flow and circulation. <\/p>\n<p>Tara and her twins needed two fetal surgeries because their TTTS was especially severe. Because the maternal fetal medicine specialists at our Colorado Fetal Care Center are so experienced and prepared for the unexpected, both surgeries were successful.
