They simply didn\u2019t know of anyone else with congenital heart disease who had been a firefighter. But Chris was born to challenge conventional wisdom and break barriers. Now he says he wouldn\u2019t be where he is \u2014 a firefighter living with adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) \u2014 without his team in Children\u2019s Colorado\u2019s Heart Institute. <\/p>\n<p>When Chris was growing up, it was thought that kids with congenital heart disease shouldn\u2019t be too active. Again, Chris challenged the prevailing guidance.
