The condition is a type of anorectal malformation, which affects about 1 in every 5,000 children. The diagnosis blindsided the new parents when they learned Teddy would require immediate surgery.<\/p>\n<p>Mary and Evan hadn\u2019t heard of the condition and didn\u2019t know what to do or what to expect \u2013 luckily for them, our doctors did.
